We are happy that we made the switch. From an accounting point of view, we now have a General Ledger system that is "accountant" friendly. The contracts operation appears that it will be a much smoother process. Our IT department is now assured that we will have stable data that is so important to our business. And, our users appreciate the windows look, feel, and use that they are accustomed to in other modern windows programs. Jill Jurevich CFO Zoom Imaging Solutions, Inc.

Following a Record-Breaking Year, Digital Gateway Has Big Plans for 2006 and Beyond
A total of 137 new companies joined the ranks of over 500 dealers using e-automate business management software to help manage everything from accounting to service dispatch. This is a record for Digital Gateway, which began in 1995 with a group of system integrators in CEO Jim Phillips' basement. Now more than a decade later and over $10 Million invested, e-automate has become the fastest growing dealer management software in the office equipment industry and is making a dramatic difference in the way independent dealers conduct business.
2005 was also a record breaking year in terms of additional modules released to enhance the abilities of e-automate. In April, the company released Digital Taskforce, a business intelligence tool that monitors e-automate and alerts users when mission critical events happen in the system.
"Dealers are running smarter and faster because they're using Digital Taskforce to do things they used to have to do manually," said James Davis, president of Digital Gateway who oversees product development. "We're constantly adding more automated ways to monitor processes, track customer behaviors, alert users when something important happens in the system and generate more informative reports to help our dealers increase their business velocity."
In June, Digital MRI was released. This data mining module for e-automate scans the system to diagnose the general health of the organization and how well users are operating the software. It looks for red flags and generates reports based on the information it gathers. Digital Gateway and their dealer organizations use these reports to reduce errors and optimize user efficiency.
"The dealers who are using Digital MRI love it because it points out how they can save money and improve their operations," said Daron Jones, Digital Gateway's VP of Business Improvement Services. "Each time we scan a dealer's system, we find new ways to get the maximum benefit from using e-automate."
In September, Digital Gateway released Remote Tech, an integrated module allowing service technicians to use their laptop computers to synchronize with e-automate while out in the field on service calls. Service techs can update calls, view equipment histories and parts availability, close calls, receive new calls and get directions. This empowers service technicians to get the information they need in the field to optimize their time and become more efficient.
Digital Gateway also has a module called Digital Barcode. This module gives dealers the ability to easily create barcode labels and use handheld PDA devices to scan inventory. The information can then by synchronized with e-automate. Dealers use this tool to aid them in purchasing, taking physical inventory and managing multiple warehouses. As a result, dealers become pinpoint accurate and often shave hours and even days off of taking inventory.
"Before Digital Barcode, I would spend weeks trying to come up with an accurate parts and supply inventory unsuccessfully," said Mike Murray, CEO of Business Works of Hawaii and an e-automate user. "Now one person can accurately complete my parts inventory in one day."
The core e-automate system also received a major upgrade in December-version 6.0. This release added over 45 new and improved features to the product including toner tracking, support for multiple time-zones, a new inventory logistics console, automated credit card processing, contract enhancements, improved meter reading and more. The new version continued to hold true to e-automate's legacy of being comparatively easy, intuitive and user friendly.
Listening to Dealers
Digital Gateway works closely with a dealer-run e-automate user's group which now has over 100 member companies. In 2005, Digital Gateway hosted the e-automate user's group for a 3-day event in Salt Lake City, Utah where e-automate users met to receive instruction, discuss better ways to utilize their software, and gave critical input into future developments.
When asked how Digital Gateway has experienced such noteworthy growth, Digital Gateway's CEO said, "We trust our dealers and they've helped us build software that really stands out in the way it improves an organization. We've relied heavily on our user's group to determine what dealers really want and it's amazing how the word gets out once you deliver it."
What's Next
Following a record growth year, Digital Gateway doesn't plan on sitting back to enjoy their success. Plans are underway for one minor and one major update of the e-automate core product this year. New and improved modules are also being developed. "Our vision is to reflect the needs of our users in the finest all-in-one business software with the lowest cost of ownership," said Phillips. "The market continues to evolve and we're committed to e-automating our independent dealers well into the future."
